On Saturday 2nd November. Dorset COP took place on Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus.

For the event, i acted as Co-Event Manager where i co-led the media coverage of the event.

Myself and my counterpart, Megan Rigby (Station Manager, Nerve TV), hired a crew of 35 students across Media, TV & Film Production, and Journalism courses. With the help of Libby Marchant, we booked out over 21 cameras to cover live talks, seminars and workshops on Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus. We did this within two weeks before the event!

We also had a team of editors live at the event who rose to the challenge to edit a number of videos for social media with very little time until we needed it ready to post. As this was a live event, content management was a concern for me in the planning stages. But as all crew were BU students, i utilised the Microsoft Office Suite and created a SharePoint site to host all of the footage recorded at the event, and having it on SharePoint added that extra level of content security as it was only accessible to those with an @bournemouth.ac.uk email address. In addition to this, i developed my own identifying code system to easily identify which talk/session the content belongs in. This was very handy when communicating with our editors via WhatsApp as it helped speed up all communications with them.

It was a really great event and i’m so proud of everyone that worked in our crew.
